Built-in alarm

The alarm watches your parked scooter for movement and tampering. It works without a SIM card; an internet connection is only needed if you also want a remote notification.

Using it day to day

Open Menu → Settings → Vehicle → Alarm and switch on Enable on Lock. After that, use the scooter normally:

  1. Park and lock the scooter with your keycard or another authorised method.
  2. Once the scooter reaches standby, the alarm arms automatically.
  3. Unlocking the scooter disarms it again.

If you set it off yourself, unlock the scooter normally. That disarms the alarm and stops the response.

What can trigger it

An armed alarm watches several parts of the scooter:

  • Movement of the parked scooter. This is enabled by default.
  • Controls: the left or right brake lever, horn button, or seatbox button. These are enabled as one group by default.
  • Seatbox: opening it without an authorised unlock.
  • Handlebar: the steering lock becoming unlocked or the handlebar leaving its parked position. These advanced triggers are disabled by default.

The optional handlebar triggers ignore the first 90 seconds after arming, so you have time to finish parking. After that, an off-position reading has to remain for a second before it counts.

Librescoot records the source and time of the latest trigger. That is useful when a parked scooter sounded while you were away and you want to distinguish movement from a pressed control or an opened seatbox.

Choosing the response

The same Alarm menu has the settings most riders need:

  • Enable on Lock controls whether the alarm arms when the scooter enters standby.
  • Honk on Trigger adds the horn to the alarm response.
  • Duration sets the response to 10, 20, or 30 seconds.

A confirmed alarm flashes the hazard lights and, when Honk on Trigger is enabled, sounds the horn. The individual trigger switches are advanced settings. On versions with the web interface, you can reach them with Show advanced enabled, or use the lsc command-line tool.

Notifications and what to do

On a fully offline scooter, the horn and hazard lights are the notification. Bluetooth by itself does not turn that into an alert from anywhere.

With cellular connectivity and a configured cloud client, alarm events can also be forwarded remotely. For example, radio-gaga can send alarm events to Sunshine. The choices and the pieces involved are explained on Offline use & connectivity.

After an alarm, look for signs that the scooter, steering, or seatbox was disturbed before riding away. If nothing is obvious, the saved trigger source and timestamp give you a useful starting point for diagnosis or a support request.

If it does not behave as expected

  • It never arms: confirm that Enable on Lock is on and that the scooter really reached standby. Service mode deliberately disables the alarm until you leave Service mode or reboot.
  • It reacts while you are still parking: finish moving the scooter before it reaches standby. The 90-second settling window applies only to the optional handlebar triggers, not to every source.
  • It triggers without an obvious cause: use the recorded source to narrow it down. If one sensor is consistently responsible, disable that advanced trigger rather than switching off the whole alarm.
  • The hazards flash but the horn stays quiet: check Honk on Trigger in the Alarm menu.
  • No alert reaches your phone: the local alarm works offline; remote alerts require cellular connectivity and a configured cloud client.
