How the scooter switches between drive mode, park mode, standby, and hibernation, what triggers the transitions, and how to get it moving again from each state.
The four states at a glance
The scooter has four states, from wide-awake drive mode to deeply asleep hibernation. They differ in how much power flows, what's visible on the display, and what action is needed to climb back up a step.
- In drive mode, you can ride off.
- In park mode, the scooter is ready to ride but with the side stand folded out.
- In standby, the scooter is locked and the display is off.
- In hibernation, the scooter is almost completely off.
Drive mode
In drive mode, the scooter is ready to ride. The speedometer is active, the energy gauge responds, and the (P) symbol in the telltale card has disappeared.
You get into drive mode by folding in the side stand from park mode. As soon as you stop and fold the side stand back out, the scooter automatically falls back into park mode.
Park mode
In park mode, the scooter is powered on and unlocked, but the side stand is folded out, and the red (P) symbol in the telltale card shows that you can't ride off. You reach park mode in two ways:
- Right after unlocking with the keycard, as long as the side stand is still folded out.
- From drive mode, as soon as you stop and fold the side stand out.
From park mode, there are several ways to continue:
- Fold in the side stand for drive mode.
- Tap the keycard to switch to standby.
- Hold both brake levers down for longer to start hibernation.
- Do nothing: after about 15 minutes of inactivity, the scooter switches to standby on its own.
Standby
In standby, the scooter is locked and the display is off. The steering lock engages only if you push the handlebar to its left stop within about 60 seconds of locking (see Riding) – always confirm the lock before leaving the scooter. You reach this state either by actively locking the scooter with the keycard, or automatically after about a quarter of an hour of inactivity in park mode.
The easiest way out of standby is to tap the keycard. The scooter switches back to park mode.
If you don't do anything, the scooter drops into a deeper sleep on its own, until it eventually lands in hibernation after a longer stretch of inactivity.
Hibernation
Hibernation is the deepest state: the scooter is almost completely off and draws only a trickle for the internal backup batteries. Those still discharge slowly over time, though – for longer storage, leave a charged main battery in the front slot and check the scooter every few weeks.
There are several ways into hibernation:
- Manually: you actively trigger it with the brake-lever gesture (see the next section) or over a paired Bluetooth connection.
- With automatic wake-up: the supported companion app starts Hibernation now and sets when the scooter should wake again.
- On a recurring schedule: the scooter can hibernate and wake at configured times on selected days.
- Automatically after inactivity: if the scooter has been sitting unused in standby for several days, it switches to hibernation on its own.
Timed hibernation wakes automatically. You can always wake sooner by holding both brake levers down for about six seconds or by connecting over paired Bluetooth.
Manually entering hibernation
If you won't be using the scooter for a longer stretch, you can trigger hibernation deliberately instead of waiting for the automatic path. Using the brake-lever gesture on the scooter itself:
- Scooter in park mode, seat closed.
- Press and hold both brake levers at the same time.
- After three seconds, the version box briefly appears in the bottom right of the display. Just keep holding.
- After 15 seconds total, the system prompts you for confirmation.
- Now tap the keycard once on the card symbol. Alternatively, you can keep holding the brakes for another 15 seconds; the system takes that as confirmation once the time is up.
- Three seconds later, the scooter switches to hibernation and the display goes black.
If you let go of the brakes before confirming, or press the seatbox switch, the scooter cancels the process and returns to park mode. An open seat at step 5 also prevents hibernation until it's closed again.
Alternatively, you can also trigger hibernation over a paired Bluetooth connection.
Timed and scheduled hibernation

Waking up
- From standby: tap the keycard.
- From hibernation: hold both brake levers down for about six seconds, or wake the scooter over a paired Bluetooth connection.
You don't need to remember which state the scooter is currently in. If tapping the keycard doesn't get a reaction, the brake-lever gesture is the next thing to try.
Hop-on / hop-off
Hop-on / hop-off is a convenience lock for short stops. If you're only parking briefly and don't want to reach for the keycard or your phone every time, you can lock the scooter temporarily with a pre-learned combo of brake, horn, and seatbox-button presses, and release it the same way. While hop-on is active, the display shows a lock screen and every physical input is ignored until you release the combo. It stays powered up, so this is not the same as a proper lock – for leaving the scooter unattended, lock it normally instead. The combo is enabled and configured in .
