We are pleased to present the beta of the new Librescoot Installer 2.0. It has been rebuilt almost from scratch: a dedicated path for upgrades, a reworked flow from the first screen to the last, and a finish the scooter takes care of itself. It is available now as a prerelease for testing.
What is new
Upgrades instead of reinstalls. The installer can now upgrade an existing Librescoot system. Plenty of people were already using it for upgrades and having to set everything up again afterwards; that is over. Settings, keycards, maps and trips are kept. The installer warns before a downgrade to an older version.
Map data downloads compressed. The download is considerably smaller, so a large region fits on the scooter.
No more replugging the cable. Everything the scooter needs is uploaded in one go, so it can finish the installation on its own. At the end it boots up and unlocks itself. The dashboard and turn signals show progress along the way.
Taking part
We need testers. If you are setting up a scooter this week, or upgrading one, take the beta and tell us how it went. “It just worked” is as useful as a bug report.
What helps in a report:
- the installer logs, if you can get at them
- your operating system and its version
- the installer version
- which Librescoot version you were installing or upgrading to
- what happened: where it stopped, what the dashboard showed, what the turn signals did, how long it hung
